Sitar for Soul

The traditional way of playing the sitar is through a solo sitar recital, where the tabla accompanies
the sitar. The sitar is used to showcase the traditional ragas of North Indian classical music, while the
tabla highlights the intricacies of rhythm.

THe Duet

"The Duet " is a sitar jugalbandi presented by the grand disciples of  Padmabhushan Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan, in celebration of his life in music. Rohan Dasgupta and Deepsankar Bhattacharjee have teamed up to showcase one of the rarest and most challenging styles of sitar playing, known as 'The Jafferkhani Baaj ', invented and introduced non other than Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan sahab. The project features the ornate melodic progressions, intricate techniques, and unique bandishes of the great Jaffer Khan, alongside the natural dexterity of the duo. Their dedication and reverence towards this art form have earned them numerous accolades from around the world, making this a compelling story that reflects their musical journey as brothers.

Ektara

I am thrilled to share with you my fusion project, Ektara, which has already been performed at several major festivals throughout India. It brings me great pleasure to collaborate with such immensely talented artists on this project.

Sax meets Sitar

"Sax meets Sitar"; is an exceptional project that began in 2012, featuring talented artists such as Robert Friedl on saxophone and Pepi Kramer on congas and percussion. The band fuses jazz and Indian classical music, resulting in a unique and captivating sound. " Sax meets Sitar" has performed at several major festivals throughout Europe.
